Why Are Time and Money Wasted in the Digital Era?
10/15/2025

Today, we live in an era where the entire world has gone digital. Every country has connected its systems to online platforms schools, colleges, banks, and even hospitals now operate digitally. But when it comes to India, the picture looks quite different. Here, a “piece of paper” is still considered the ultimate proof. No government work is complete without files, documents, or official stamps. This is the same system that turns a two-hour task into a two-month ordeal wasting not only people’s time but also their hard-earned money.
Anyone who has visited a government office in India knows how far the dream of “Digital India” is from reality. Long queues, piles of files, endless waiting for stamps and signatures this is the true picture of our bureaucracy. Sometimes, a single signature requires visits to multiple offices. Where a task could be completed online with one click, it takes months and hundreds of rupees to get done.
And when it comes to the judiciary, the system becomes even more painful. The fight for justice often consumes an entire lifetime. People keep visiting courts for years, getting one date after another, but no final judgment. It’s not that India lacks resources the real issue is that our system is so deeply rooted in outdated processes that change has become incredibly difficult.
If we look at Indian politics, the scenario isn’t much different there either. Every five years, elections are held and every time, crores of rupees are spent like water on campaigns, posters, banners, rallies, and vehicles. The question to ask is: Where does all this money come from? This is the very money that the common people pay as taxes money that should be used for their welfare. Sadly, it is instead wasted on political games and publicity.
India is a country that doesn’t lack talent or resources what it lacks is integrity and a sense of accountability in its systems. Until we change the way we work, “Digital India” will remain nothing more than a slogan. We must realize that technology is effective only when it’s used with honesty and simplicity. Otherwise, no matter how many apps we launch or schemes we announce, real change will never come not until every government office, every politician, and every citizen understands that both time and money are precious, and wasting them is nothing less than destroying our own future.
